Scandal!
I saw a commercial today that honestly made me laugh pretty hard but it wasn't so much the commercial itself as it was the name of the product. You know the burger family right? Mama burger, papa burger, baby burger and sirloin uncle burger. There's a sirloin baby burger now. Mama burger, how could you? Current Mood: amused | | Sunday, August 9th, 2009 | | 2:08 pm |

I love my glaciers TA!
She is a living doll :) Today in class she came up to me and offered to lend me her text book to study from for the midterm since I haven't been able to afford it up until now. I told her I planned to buy it on Friday anyway, but she offered it up all the same and said it was no problem for me to use it so I've got it with me now. I thought that was incredibly sweet! I have a half hour to kill before I go down to the pool, but I have nothing to write about... soooo a topic... Christmas. It's not exactly closing in on or anything, since it's over a month away however I keep having this strange feeling when I wake up in the morning. Well, it's happened twice, but I expect to see snow when I look outside. I'm not really sure why, I just always think I'm going to see it. And I always hope to see it. And today I caught myself thinking about Christmas. A few years ago I kind of went through a dry spell where Christmas really wasn't of any great consequence, but now I look forward to it so much. More to see my family then any other reason. When I think of Christmas nowadays I think of Ottawa in the winter. My trip there, and all the McLennon family traditions. Take out pizza and tree "decorating". I really have to post a picture of our family tree sometime; Di put it very well when she called it "the tree that Christmas threw up on." That's exactly what it looks like. And my dad always makes a spider cake, which I think is properly called a chocolate chiffon cake (if anyone's a baking enthusiast that might mean something to you, otherwise, suffice it to say that it's quite a fancy cake). Last year I took my mom to mass, not because I'm much of a believer, but it matters a lot to her and I could tell she was really bummed when the family initially declined to go. We'll go again this year I'm sure. Plus opening one gift after mass is also something of a tradition, and I'm a stickler for Christmas traditions ^_^ I still pester my parents to read The Night Before Christmas and A Newfie Christmas Carol, which is really fantastic. It would take me a long time to transcribe in onto lj but I'd be tempted to just so everyone could read it. My dad's read it every year since I can remember (I think we may have forgotten one year tho). We also light the Kentucky Fried Candle each year, but it gets harder every year since it's slowly burning very far down. It's a rather lovely candle in a foot tallish matte glass/plastic tube with poinsettas on it, that my parents got from kfc and was one of the first Christmas ornaments that they ever had so far as I know. We light it every year, but its so close to the bottom these days. Dad says he'll get it refilled some year so we can keep using it, but it won't have its special, kfc-y smell. What a shame! We dig out the cat's favorite toys: some bumble bees made out of pipe cleaner with some googly eyes glued on them. No matter how old and unenergetic she gets she always goes nuts for those bees. And every year me and my dad do our shopping on christmas eve^_^ It's never as bad as you'd think. Only the really dedicated procrastinators hold out until then and the malls always have bucket loads of extra staff and extended hours. And of course there's some more traditional traditions like my dad's big turkey dinner what he always cooks, and then on boxing day we have chicken fajitas - my favorite! Yup, its a good time, and wow, now I'm really looking forward to it! It's pool time :O Current Mood: ready for back tucks | | Sunday, November 2nd, 2008 | | 12:11 pm |
Pig Tactics
So yesterday the Fredericton cops crossed me again. Those worthless sons of bitches searched my room completely without my permission and WITHOUT a warrent. I feel totally violated and extremely pissed off. From what I've heard my some of my roommates say, they were pretty coersive, threatening that they'd come back with an army of cops to cunduct a highly invasive three or four hour search if they weren't permitted access. So its good to know that Fredericton's finest is using treats to circumvent legal process. Fuck, I am just livid right now. I hope I'm home the next time the cops come to the house becuase I will completely freak out at them. I will demand a written apology signed by their fat ass sherif if he's still alive. He's probably died from having a peice of food lodged in his lung by now that useless pile of shit. So I checked with my landlord and the search wasn't illegal per se since he let them in, which is disappointing. But I can still hate the shit out of them and every time I hear that a fredericton cop has been injured or better, killed (its a small town, so we're not often blessed with cop deaths unfortunately) I will be smiling. In Animal Farm, when Napoleon didn't want to be 'inconvenienced' by having to obey the law, he assembled an army of visious dogs to frighten citizens into obedience, even if it meant waiving their own rights. That's what police are. Current Mood: furious | | Sunday, September 21st, 2008 | | 1:13 pm |
supercollision DELAYED?
I saw on the news the other day the the LHC's having some electrical problems. One website I read said the thing's going to be down a minimum of two months for repairs (but another said no offical word had been given yet, so who knows). http://heraldnet.com/article/20080921/NEWS02/709219855So I have to admit that up until about yesterday I've been pretty guilty of ignoring the election. Mostly becasue I really can't stand either of the two main contenders. Well, I guess the liberals haven't done anything to piss me off lately. Anyways, I've been reading the green party's website and I am in love. I haven't finished it yet but so far I haven't read anything that I don't like (accept an increased alcohol tax! lol). | | Monday, September 15th, 2008 | | 5:38 pm |
Caution: hangovers and paranoia contagious
So right now I'm at work and I might just be the only soul in the entire building. Today there were wispers around campus that marshal d'avery had been evacuated due to 6 people fainting! So I was naturally hoping for the day off, but after I went to go talk to security to ensure that the building was fully shut down it turned out not to be. It was reopened at quarter after four so here I am. Anyways, I talked to kris for a bit who gave me the full scoop: there is a room on the third floor with some shitty engineering: the floor vibrates slightly when the ventalation system is on on the second floor. Today in that class, 3 people who enjoyed their weekend a bit too much felt sick. Within minutes 3 more people were claiming to be woosy aswell. An email sent out by the univeristy reported that the students FELT faint (nobody actually fainted). Emergency services checked the building from top to bottom, water and air quality, but nothing came up as abnormal (but I jokingly told kris that that's what they said about Devon Jr High weeks before they realized there was such a bad mould problem that the school had to be shut down for a year and redone lol). Anyways, somewhat amusingly, another building was evacuated this afternoon becasue of an odor. So here I am at work, alone... Kris said if the lab is still dead at 7 or so I can just shut the place down. I'll probably go home for some supper and then come back to get some work done. In other news we have rock band 2 at the house! Sweet! Current Mood: amusedCurrent Music: within temptation - memories | | Thursday, September 4th, 2008 | | 10:10 am |
first day of school
My alarm went off, but I didn't remember why I had set it in the first place so I just shut it off and went back to sleep. Woke up at 9 and realized I had class for 10; got up and headed down to the school but as it turns out I don't actually have a class scheduled for today... Oh well, atleast I'm up doing stuff. I'll probably just haunt the library until its time for my lab which I'm pretty sure I don't have... But just to be safe I'll show up. The prof might just do an intro of some kind or something. I'm going to cheerleading camp all this week - as an instructor :D Neat! Today was day two, and so far it's super fun. Oh how I've missed cheerleading, I hope I can get back on the team this year. it really depends on what my work schedule is tho *crosses fingers* I just got finished at five and now I shall go home for supper and if nobody is home reherse some bleacherama Current Mood: cheerful | | Saturday, July 19th, 2008 | | 8:46 am |
Happy Birthday to me :)
I is 23 today :) I didn't make any specific plans for the day of my birthday but I think what I'm going to do is just whatever I want. All the things I like to do. So I got talked into going to Batman the other day. It was a midnight show and I had to be up for quarter after six in the morning the next day to go to work... But it was worth it. I'm not even exactly sure how to describe what I like about it, becuase it was very much a standard hollywood action flic. But I guess the situation for the all the characters was just so dire, but somehow it didn't feel depressing. And I really love batman's butler, and morgan freeman's charcter, and nothing about the joker was overrated: Ledger really did do a fantastic job - I wouldn't have ever recognized him. Actually batman himself may very well be my least favorite character lol I still like him, just less then everyone else. Survivor Atelka continued this week. We started out with 23 people and we're down to 13 or 15, I can't remember the official count exactly. And this is just the training >_< I was, as one could only expect, tired as anything Friday in class but Linda let us go early so that was pretty cool. I'm after breaking my bike so I walked home and it looks like I'll be taking the bus like a sucker until I can get it fixed. Jason guessed the price to be about 60 bucks, which is managable, but will have to wait until next paycheque. Or maybe I can get a second oppinion from Lenny... Speaking of work and being overwhelmingly tired, I fell asleep last night at around 11, on top of my blankets with the lights still on, and woke up at quarter after eight. Am I a morning person once again? We'll see. I tried to call my parants last night to thank them for the bday presents they sent me but I couldn't get through and then since I guess I missed their call when they tried to get back to me. which is a bit of a bummer becuase they're leaving for nfld today and if I know my parents even tho it's only eight oclock where they are they've probably left already. but maybe not I could give them a try here in a few minutes. I went to the toy store the other day to get some micromachines but alas there were none. I wanted to take some pictures of them having a tiny race, and then try to photoshop my friends behind the wheels. Would probably take some pics of people in their real cars then just cut the winsheild out and paste it on the micromachines. I might have to settle for regular dinky cars... Well, time to go embrase the day! Current Mood: awake | | Wednesday, July 16th, 2008 | | 12:29 am |
Hang outs with Dave
Got to hang out with Dave and Lee some today. I haven't spent much quality time with those guys since about this time last summer (to the day, actually - he was married on the 13th, and we hung out the day after at his camp). So it was good to chill with him again and check out his new place. I'm also insanely jealous of his and Mel's exceptionally lovely cats. Whoever said you can't buy love didn't know what they were talking about. He said he'd give me a call again on friday or monday. Hopefully I'll see a lot more of him this year ^_^ Current Mood: sleepyCurrent Music: Jason and Willie playing Creep (by Radiohead) on Rockband | | Monday, July 14th, 2008 | | 8:07 pm |
my life lately: training class and rock band
So as the title implies my life consists of little more then my training class and rock band... not that I'm complaining... too much lol The class is very much like being back in grade nine... There's the guy who always fights with the trainer, the know it all keener who never shuts up about anything, the older, brazen students, the students who mostly just doodle though class (of which I am one!), the goth student, and the student who's doing the course for the second time... My group's pretty fun tho. I have middle aged, really artistic type guy, the guy who always fights with Linda (the trainer) and funny guy who's about my age. We have good times. And lots of frustrating times becuase the class can get fairly zoolike, particularly as all the training material is out of date because the programs we have to use have all been updated in the last few days, and also just altogether don't work very well. And when I'm not at training I've been playing retarded amounts of Rock Band. It's just so fun haha! I tore myself away from it long enough to make it down to the market on saturday, and to make it out to a potluck. I made a cake that turned out to be very satisfying. Extra moist, just as the package said it would be :D payday is on thursday, and my birthday is on saturday although I haven't made any hard and fast plans. Perhaps I'll go to the masquerade that's going to be going on at boom! with John lol But I think what I want to do more then anything is just go cruise the Saint John in a kayak for a few hours. That would be pretty sweet. Or maybe I'll see if I can treat myself to a demo class at the new martial arts center up the hill from my house. I'll think of something... later ^_^ | | Sunday, July 6th, 2008 | | 1:02 pm |
Stewart brought over his copy of rock band complete with all the instruments... It is the best thing since sliced bread. I litterally played it from the time I got up til the time I went to bed, breaking only to eat, use the washroom and shower. Current Mood: nerdy |
